Property Committee moves toward surplus declaration for 75 Oliver Street

City Council - Property Committee · Meeting of February 5, 2026

EASTHAMPTON — City Council Property Committee advances disposition of the Town Lodging House at 75 Oliver Street. Chair JP Kwiecinski, Councilors Kiam Jamrog-McQuaid and Tom Peake, and City Procurement Officer Michael Owens discussed declaring the 54-acre property surplus and drafting a request for proposals focused on affordable housing and veterans services. The property, appraised at $47,444, carries overlapping historic preservation, agricultural preservation, and affordable housing deed restrictions.

Renewal Initiatives, supported by Advocates for Human Potential as fiscal sponsor, has expressed interest in the project. Owens will finalize the RFP over the next 60 days, confirm no other city departments seek the property, and coordinate with the Housing and Community Development agency on approval of any affordable housing restriction transfer.
