Committee authorizes preliminary eminent domain proceedings for two projects

City Council - Property Committee · Meeting of May 18, 2026

EASTHAMPTON — Property Committee unanimously approves two easement authorizations for infrastructure projects. The City Council Property Committee approved preliminary eminent domain proceedings for permanent and temporary easements supporting intersection safety improvements on Ferry and Parson Streets, funded by a 2.4 million dollar MassHousing Housing Works grant, and slope stabilization work from Emerald Place to Lower Mill Pond, contingent on a Municipal Vulnerability Preparedness grant decision expected in September or October. Planning Director Allyson Manuel confirmed both affected property owners, One Industrial Lofts and 10-12 Glen Cove Place, have been consulted and support the applications.

If the MVP grant is awarded, construction could begin in spring 2027.
