Manhan Rail Trail Committee · Meeting of May 18, 2026
EASTHAMPTON — Manhan Rail Trail Committee approves prior minutes, pursues signage and website upgrades. The 14-member panel, chaired by Barbara LaBombard, unanimously backed installation of 10 trail etiquette signs with tamper-proof fasteners, tasking David Jaffe with placement; formed a four-member subcommittee of Wendy Hammerle, Lisa Ponce, Holden Sparacino, and James Crawford to oversee website transition as the current designer ends support by year end. The committee also discussed recent tree and brush clearing near the Oxbow, with Holden Sparacino noting uncertainty about property ownership and right-of-way encroachment, agreeing to consult the city Engineering Department and DPW.
Chair LaBombard reported the Mayoral Bike Week ride drew an estimated 30 cyclists, and the Manhan Rail Trail has been selected as one of ten signature trails in the state for the MassTrails 10 campaign, featured the week of June 8.
