Trail committee removes trash can from downtown area
Manhan Rail Trail Committee · Meeting of June 22, 2026
Easthampton trail committee votes unanimously to remove the overflowing downtown trash can. The Manhan Rail Trail Committee voted unanimously June 22 to remove an overflowing receptacle behind Tandem Bagel and store it to monitor the response, with potential relocation beside the Public Safety complex in the fall. The garbage can, usually emptied Mondays, has been overflowing particularly on weekends, prompting Chair Barbara LaBombard to coordinate with Police and Fire Chiefs on a permanent solution.
The committee also advanced a public sculpture project by Pasqualina Azzarello, Arts & Culture Program Director at Easthampton City Arts, scheduled for mid-to-late October installation at the Union Street crossing featuring mosaic tile, native stone, and steel.
