Property Committee approves lodging house disposition plan
City Council - Property Committee · Meeting of March 23, 2026
Easthampton Property Committee advances sale of 54-acre lodging house property. The City Council Property Committee unanimously endorsed a disposition process for the Town Lodging House at 75 Oliver Street, with Chair JP Kwiecinski guiding the committee to refine evaluation criteria into a rubric-style system. Planning Director Allyson Manuel presented sale conditions requiring the new owner to make a voluntary payment in lieu of taxes equal to at least 10% of what would otherwise be due if the property sells below appraised value, and to maintain agricultural preservation, historic preservation, and affordable housing restrictions.
All materials will go to the City Solicitor for review, with potential further committee action the week of April 1st before full Council consideration April 8th.
