City Council removes budget proposal, pivots to Charter review
City Council · Meeting of February 18, 2026
Easthampton City Council votes to remove long-pending school budget measure from agenda. Councilor Tom Peake sponsored removal of the Chapter 329 adoption request after the School Committee determined it was not a priority, pivoting instead toward Charter Commission formation to address governance and checks and balances. In other business the Council unanimously approved Marlene Michonski to the Parks and Recreation Commission and Tamara Smith to the BEES Committee.
The Council also amended Rule 11L to require committee meeting minutes filed within 30 days instead of within 3 meetings.
