Board initiates receivership process for condemned East Street property
Board of Health · Meeting of February 18, 2026
Easthampton Board votes to initiate receivership for fire-damaged property. Following nearly four years of stalled legal action, the board unanimously approved a court-appointed receivership process for the condemned 99 East Street property, mired in disputes stemming from previous-attorney malpractice. Health Director Ryan Griffin proposed the receivership, noting that a court-appointed receiver could force progress on code violations and the court could lift the order if significant advances occur within a month.
Mayor Salem Derby attended the meeting and commended the board, noting that Griffin's management of the health department is satisfactory.
