BOARD OF HEALTH APPROVES NICOTINE-FREE GENERATION TOBACCO POLICY

Board of Health · Meeting of June 10, 2026

Easthampton Board of Health approves nicotine-free generation tobacco restrictions. Chair Elizabeth Rist and board members voted unanimously to implement the policy effective January 1, 2027, setting a legal age of 21 with a cutoff birth date of January 1, 2006. The regulations include permit non-renewals for establishments with three under-21 violations annually, oral nicotine pouch sales restricted to 21-plus retailers, and increased school buffer distance from 500 to 1,000 feet.

Member Steven Coughlin moved to add a mandatory five-year policy review, and Health Director Ryan Griffin requested a two-month delay for non-NFG implementation to allow business education.
