Board of Health upholds food truck variance denial
Board of Health · Meeting of May 13, 2026
EASTHAMPTON — Board of Health upholds food truck park variance denial; considers tobacco restrictions. The board upheld the denial of a variance for Hawker Square that would have allowed mobile food trucks to remain four days on-site without daily returns to their commissary base, with Director Ryan Griffin citing food code requirements. The board held a hearing on seven proposed tobacco regulations including a nicotine-free generation policy prohibiting sales to anyone born after January 1, 2006, restricting nicotine pouches to adult-only retailers, and increasing school buffer zones to 1,000 feet.
Multiple speakers testified in support; Chair Elizabeth Rist indicated readiness to vote pending input from Easthampton High School students.
