Parks and Recreation Commission approves amended April minutes, advances CPA projects

Parks & Recreation Commission · Meeting of May 13, 2026

EASTHAMPTON — Parks and Recreation Commission unanimously approved amended April minutes and reviewed multiple capital projects. Director John Mason reported that Nash Pond work at Nonotuck Park Point has been awarded and contractor mobilization is expected around June 1, with a CPA banner and QR code to be displayed. The commission faces FY27 budget pressures including potential two-hour position cuts and reductions in pool hours and school sports programming.

Mason indicated willingness to explore field rentals as a revenue stream to offset departmental costs. Camp registrations show five of eight junior camp weeks sold out with senior camp completely full; Pavilion 1 has sold out for the summer.
