Parks Commission approves amended March minutes, weighs COA complex proposal.
Parks & Recreation Commission · Meeting of April 8, 2026
EASTHAMPTON — Parks and Recreation Commission approves amended March minutes and reviews joint recreation-senior center complex. Chair Kira Henninger reported that Director John Mason and COA Director Cindy Tarail have discussed the proposal, with Mason recommending a joint letter to the Senior Center Building Committee outlining fitness center needs and two separate feasibility studies. The city is projecting a $3.8 million deficit for FY27; the Mayor is considering a $4 million override that would eliminate the Recreation Coordinator position, though Mason indicated he would retain it on the pay plan should revenue improve.
The Spray Park is scheduled for construction in March or April 2027, and Mill Pond will host a World Cup watch party on July 9, supported by a $100,000 FIFA matching grant.
