Parks Commission Re-elects Henninger as Chair; Approves Skatepark at 60 Percent Design

EASTHAMPTON — The Parks and Recreation Commission unanimously re-elected Chair Kira Henninger, Vice Chair Carolyn Anderson, and Secretary Marlene Michonski. GZA engineers Nolan Fonda and Dan Shaw presented the Millside Park skatepark at 60 percent design completion, featuring plaza-style elements with maximum heights of three and one-half feet, porous paving, and a rain garden with native plantings; the 90 percent design is due April 8 and Conservation Commission approval is targeted for April, with bid-ready plans expected by June. Director John Mason reported the dog park memorandum of understanding remains under negotiation with the Friends of the Dog Park, with presentation and commission vote planned for September and construction targeted for late summer or fall 2027.
