Rent Study and Housing Partnership committees review zoning recommendations

Rent Study Committee · Meeting of February 26, 2026

EASTHAMPTON — Joint meeting of Rent Study and Housing Partnership committees reviews zoning recommendations for housing growth. Chair Janna Tetreault convened the two bodies with Planning Director Allyson Manuel and Senior Planner Johanna Stacy on hand to discuss removing the 18-unit-per-building cap, allowing mixed-use development and duplexes by right in residential zones, and consolidating zoning districts to three zones. Kevin Perrier and David Boyle raised design constraints and historical precedent, respectively, while the committees noted concerns from the Planning Department about preserving downtown commercial viability.

Both bodies agreed to coordinate on ongoing housing initiatives.
