EASTHAMPTON — Rent Study Committee advances deliberation on home rule petition for rent stabilization. Chair Kiam Jamrog-McQuaid led discussion on a proposed local ordinance capping annual rent increases, with members debating exemptions for smaller buildings and various mechanisms for setting caps. The committee received over 45 public survey responses as of late July, with responses continuing through mid-August.
A September vote is planned, followed by introduction at the second September City Council meeting; a parallel request to expand committee membership from nine to eleven is pending.
