Easthampton Ordinance Committee advances Wetlands Protection Ordinance

City Council - Ordinance Committee · Meeting of April 28, 2026

Easthampton Ordinance Committee unanimously votes to advance Wetlands Protection Ordinance to City Council. The committee voted 3-0 on April 28 to move the measure forward following three public information sessions drawing support from local conservationists and no organized opposition. Conservation Agent Eva Gerstle presented the ordinance, which creates 100-foot buffer zones around most wetlands and 200-foot zones around riverfront areas, requiring permits for protected-resource alterations.

A public hearing is scheduled for May 20 at 6:15 p.m.
