EASTHAMPTON — Council on Aging approves March minutes, weighs mayor's senior center freeze. The board voted 8-0 to accept prior minutes and discussed the mayor's decision to withhold $100,000 for a senior center feasibility study until the high school debt is paid off. Chair Cathie Schweitzer reported that the mayor made this position clear at a March 30 Senior Center Building Committee meeting.
Parks and Recreation Director Jason Mason presented a proposal for a multi-use facility combining senior and recreation needs, with seniors receiving exclusive use until 4 p.m. in a joint scenario. Director Cindy Tarail reported the COA's FY 26 budget at $284,000, or 0.5 percent of the city's $65 million overall budget.
