City Council Finance Committee reviews FY27 municipal budget across departments
City Council - Finance Committee · Meeting of May 13, 2026
EASTHAMPTON — City Council Finance Committee reviews FY27 municipal budgets across departments. Chair Tom Peake, members Koni Denham and Jonathan Schmidt, and 13 city officials spent three and a half hours examining proposed changes to city departments, including a 55,000 dollar increase to the Conservation Acquisition Fund and adjustments to staffing positions across the city. Particular attention focused on budget impacts to the Planning Department where proposed cuts would affect the city's ability to manage public hearings and pursue grants, and the Assessor's office where a vacant data collector position would slow property assessments for new construction.
The committee also noted a pending 870,000 dollar supplemental appropriation for health and dental insurance and a city council action to establish a Neighbor in Need fund.
