Board of Public Works approves tiered sewer and water rates

EASTHAMPTON — Board of Public Works approves tiered rate structure for municipal sewer and water services. Chair Thomas Malsbury, Members Leya Strode and Gilson Hogan voted unanimously to adopt Alternative 6, recommended by Raybern Consulting, over a three-year implementation period. Director Greg Nuttelman also reported a March 9 sanitary sewer main collapse on Everett Street that was repaired within two days, and a culvert failure on River Street requiring an estimated $50,000 lining project to address rotted 36-inch pipes carrying water from the Manhan River.
