EASTHAMPTON — Rules and Government Relations Committee advanced four measures for full Council consideration. The committee voted 3-0 to recommend an amended Housing Task Force resolution after removing language requiring public communications disclosure and adding email safeguards against open meeting violations. A 3-0 vote also approved a charter request to extend expiration dates on eight on-premise liquor licenses originally granted in March 2020 but delayed by the COVID-19 shutdown.
A Water Operator Retirement Reclassification resolution supporting state legislation to reclassify water operators from Group 1 to Group 2 pension status passed 2-0 with one abstention. Rule 11A governing ad hoc committee appointments was unanimously recommended after amendment clarifying full Council approval of all presidential appointments. Discussion of a Code of Conduct for 200-plus volunteer board members was deferred pending Parks Department document review and Council on Aging feedback.
