Easthampton arts committee explores nonprofit status amid city budget crisis

Easthampton City Arts Coordinating Committee · Meeting of April 14, 2026

Easthampton arts committee pursues nonprofit status amid city budget crisis. Facing a projected $6 million structural deficit in the city's budget, the Easthampton City Arts Coordinating Committee agreed to explore establishing a nonprofit 501(c)(3) to access foundation funding. The committee confirmed canceling "Cultural Chaos" in favor of flexible, smaller programming.

Upcoming events include the Mayday Spring Floral Festival on May 2nd, a June Sidewalk Festival, monthly concerts by the Grateful Dead cover band "My Left Body" at Abandoned Brewery, and World Cup screenings at Millside Park beginning June 13th. The committee also received a $5,000 anonymous donation.
