Commission on Disability approves December minutes, hosts Mayor Derby.

Commission on Disability · Meeting of January 8, 2026

EASTHAMPTON — Commission on Disability approves prior minutes and hears from Mayor Salem Derby. Chair Angelique Baker and Commissioners Eli Damon, Leslie Tane, Cyril Slemaker, and Jeffrey A. Brown were present; Bruce Homstead was absent.

Mayor Derby discussed the committee appointment process, which typically takes less than a month, and outlined a "Snow Angels" program with the High School Principal to assist with sidewalk snow removal and a new app for reporting snow-affected areas. The Planning Department reported the Main Street redesign and Safe Routes to School Project are at 25 percent design phase with public hearings expected late winter or early spring. The Commission plans to launch a new disability survey in the coming months, building on 2020 findings that residents are unhappy with sidewalk conditions.
