Commission examines Chicoine Farm lease as town prepares Lodging House sale

Agricultural Commission · Meeting of May 5, 2026

EASTHAMPTON — Commission to examine Chicoine Farm lease as town prepares property sale. The commission approved prior meeting minutes and announced it will scrutinize the 40-year lease between Chicoine Farm and the city as the town moves toward an RFP for the Lodging House property. Commission Secretary Elodie Chicoine told the board the lease was terminated despite verbal confirmation of renewal in March.

Chicoine plans to submit a proposal to manage the Lodging House through a new non-profit while maintaining her farm's lease. The commission said it needs more business planning information before supporting the proposal and will monitor city council decisions on the RFP.
