Commission on Disability hosts Stavros Center presentation, plans Disability Pride initiatives

Commission on Disability · Meeting of March 12, 2026

EASTHAMPTON — The Commission on Disability heard a presentation on Stavros Center for Independent Living, a five-county provider serving 10,000 consumers monthly with advocacy, independent living, and personal care assistance programs. Chair Angelique Baker noted that former City Hall liaison Maddie Palmer can no longer attend meetings, creating a staffing gap. The Commission approved its February minutes unanimously and discussed participation in Northampton's Disability Pride Month Story Hour initiative in July, requiring coordination on accessible venue, ASL interpretation, and disability-led storytelling.

A survey subcommittee will broaden previous questionnaire topics for community input.
