School Committee approves 2026-2027 calendar with reduced half days.

School Committee · Meeting of March 10, 2026

Easthampton School Committee cuts half-days in new school calendar. The committee unanimously approved the 2026-2027 school year calendar, reducing half-days from 12 to 6 for MVS and 9 for EHS while starting classes before Labor Day to avoid an end-of-June closure. Superintendent Michelle Balch also secured unanimous approval to participate in school choice for 2026-2027 and won approval by a 5-0-1 vote (Mayor Salem Derby abstaining) of a 60,182.16-dollar supplemental appropriation to address unanticipated nursing expenses following a staff medical leave and hire conversion.

The committee unanimously accepted 32,655 dollars in donations for the We the People team's trip to nationals and approved EHS Program of Studies revisions.
