Finance Subcommittee approves FY'26 nurse staffing overage for Mayoral review.
School Committee - Finance Subcommittee · Meeting of March 2, 2026
EASTHAMPTON — School Committee Finance Subcommittee reviewed FY'26 overages and FY'27 efficiencies on March 2. Julia Saari-Franks, Director of Business Services, reported unexpected charges of $60,182.16 from temporary nurse staffing, prompting an Appropriation Request for Mayoral approval. Superintendent Michelle Balch detailed plans to hire a world languages teacher and STEAM teacher within current staffing by declining to replace a retiring third-grade teacher and reducing a fifth-grade classroom without eliminating positions.
A new copier services contract generated savings that eliminated a central office software funding request. The full FY'27 budget will be ready for subcommittee vote on March 9.
