Easthampton Opens 24-Hour Cooling Center at Public Safety Complex Through Sunday
A heat event is prompting the city to open a 24-hour cooling area starting today, with residents able to seek relief at the Public Safety Complex through the weekend.
**TOWN HALL**
The city announced Thursday that a cooling area is now available at the Easthampton Public Safety Complex, 32 Payson Avenue, open around the clock from Friday through Sunday. The facility is open to all members of the public at no charge.
The town also posted a job opening Thursday. No position details were included in the announcement; interested residents can check the full listing at easthamptonma.gov.
**COMING UP**
A busy stretch of public meetings runs next week. The City Council Finance Committee meets Monday, June 15. On Tuesday, June 16, the Council on Aging, the Economic Development and Industrial Commission, the Cultural Council, the Planning Board, and the School Committee all convene. Wednesday, June 17 brings the Board of Public Works, the full City Council, the Parks and Recreation Commission, and the Historical Commission.
On the library front, free Technology Help sessions are scheduled at the Easthampton Public Library on June 17 and again June 24. A GoDigital class focused on Privacy and Security on the iPhone is set for June 26.
