Policy Subcommittee advances seven school policies unanimously

School Committee - Policy Subcommittee · Meeting of August 17, 2026

Easthampton's Policy Subcommittee unanimously approved seven updated school policies for full committee review. The three-member panel—Sam Hunter, Linda Markey, and Eric Guyette—reviewed policies touching on student safety, welfare, and nutrition with Superintendent Michelle Balch and Business Director Julia Saari-Franks presenting. The new restraint policy (JKAA) explicitly prohibits prone restraint, replacing the outdated JHFB policy.

All eight votes passed unanimously (3-0-0) and will advance to the full School Committee for final approval.
