With a heatwave bearing down on the region, the city is activating cooling centers to give residents a place to escape the heat.

TOWN HALL

The city posted notice Monday that cooling centers will open in response to an approaching heatwave. No specific locations, hours, or opening dates were listed in the initial announcement, but residents can check the city's official alerts page for updates as the weather develops.

Also visible on the town homepage: a standing traffic alert noting a lane restriction on the Liberty Street Bridge remains in effect. Residents traveling that corridor should plan accordingly.
